The top eight divers from each of the individual events plus a synchro team from each country in the top six at the World Championships have been invited to compete for attractive cash prizes in this three or four leg series.
Starting in 2007 there will be three Meets in quick succession in Sheffield (GBR), Mexico City (MEX) and Nanjing (CHN). The events in each Meet will be individual 3m and platform for men and women plus synchro 3m and platform for men and women. The Diving World Series will run for three years and will be reviewed at the FINA Congress in 2009 to decide whether it will then continue in the same format. It is hoped that in 2008 and 2009 there will be a fourth venue somewhere in Europe.

In 2007 FINA experimented with the live streaming video of events. It seems likely this will be repeated in 2008.
