Fundraising Committee

Background

The fundraising committee was set up in March 2008 in order to try to raise some additional funds to help the club get through the difficult time when the RCP finally closed for refurbishment. The funds raised were used to help finance the relocation of the springboards to Newbattle Swimming Pool.

Since the relocation of the boards the on going fundraising activities have helped to subsidise the club kit with all members at 30th of April 2010 getting a 70% subsidy towards the purchase of their new kit.

The fund raising activity has also meant that the trips away have been subsidised to help reduce the costs for the divers.

Future Events

Smartie tube have been handed out again and we are looking to collect before the Easter Break, remember if you fill it hand it in and get another tube.

17th June is bag packing at Morrisons at the Gyle.

The commttee are always open to any of the club's kidsor parents ideas to raise the funds that the club needs. Also if anyone is interested in becoming more active within the fundraising scene they are more than welcome  to come forward and join the committee.

We are also hoping to hold more bag packing events, a  race night and Big Splash event in 2012.

Fundraising update 2011

Fundraising events this year have got off to a slow start (mainly due to the fact that the committee is now down to 3 members). Anyway this year we are hoping to have at least two bagpacking events and are going to do the Smartie tube fundraiser as an ongoing event. We will be handing out a tube of smarties to all members and if they are returned full of 20p's this will bring us in £12 per tube. If anyone has any other ideas can they let a member of the committee know.

To date we have had a good year with one bag packing event this year raising just over £600, the Smartie tubes raising in excess of £450 and over £200 from cake stalls, etc. Most importantly of all we have had a new recruit in Brenda Cheyne to help boost the committees numbers.

As well as fundraising this year we have also arranged a couple of Social Events. The infamous 'Black n Blue' in January and the Sports Day in August that covered their costs but more importantly got the club together for a social occassion.
