Blast from the past

Caroline Hardy (nee Millar), one of the original club divers, has emailed as follows:

"I have only just spotted the Edinburgh Diving Club’s website and was very sad to hear about the death of Bill Law only a few months ago.  He was a lovely man with a great sense of humour and a brilliant coach.  Unfortunately despite his best efforts, and despite my enthusiasm, I never had much natural diving talent.  Meanwhile my contemporaries, Lesley Ogden and Fiona Hotson, just got better and better.   I was one of the first members of the Club (membership number 8 I think) and did my first dive off 10m before the pool was officially open.  We were so lucky to have such brilliant facilities at that time.   Having left Edinburgh to join the Royal Navy, my only claim to fame was winning the Inter Services Diving Championships in 1976.     I visited Edinburgh one day recently and had time to kill so thought I’d call in at the pool to see if any diving was going on, only to find it was closed for refurbishment!   Please could you pass on my best wishes to Malcolm Taylor and Linda Lockerbie, and anyone else from that era that might know me.   Kind regards "
