Happy New Year to everyone

This is going to be a very exciting year with the Commonwealth Pool reopening in the spring.

Commonwealth Pool update

The Commonwealth Pool is on track to open to the public mid March so it is not long now until our new programme is due to start. The dive programme will be in place for Spring Term 2 and is due to start on Monday 16th or April. We will complete the remainder of spring term 1 at Newbattle Pool as planned. At present there is a lot of work going into the timetabling of the new programme and as soon as this is confirmed for rebooking we will make sure this is available to you. For a bit of motivation to some of our divers we are trying to organise a group visit to see the new facilities to take place in February. More information to follow....

Competitions

The first SASA Levels Competition took place last Saturday, It was great to see so many divers and a special mention to our Under 7's Darcy and Lucy who dived very well and it was Lucy's first competition.

Watch out for the Shipley letters coming out in next few weeks.

2012 Calendar posted

Divemark

Well done to everyone who was involved in the Club gaining the Divemark status, we are the first Club in Scotland to achieve this and we have been awarded a small grant and some educational vouchers.

A reminder to parents

There have been a few incidents recently of parents coaching and general chatting to children from the balcony. The coaches ask that you please let children concentrate and leave them in the capable hands of the coaches during the lesson for divers to get the full benefit of the session

Prize giving

The prize giving was a great success with everything running smoothly and the youngest kids partying onto the end.

Thanks to everyone for such a big turnout on the night and to Greens Health Club and Chaplins Discos. The Raffle, Heads/Tails and Ticket money after expenses meant the club raised in excess of £250 from the night

Education

Scottish Swimming have asked us to post this notice:-

John Sluman will be providing a Judge 2 course on Saturday 3rd March at Glenrothes during the East District Challenge meet.  He will also hold a Judge 1 course on Sunday 4th March at the same venue. Contact Scottish Swimming for more info.

AGM
The Club AGM was held at the Dean Tavern at 7.30 on Wed 23rd Nov 2011. There was a change to the committee, Davie Bennet and Julia Macmillian retired from their roles which they have held for many years. We are all very grateful for the work they have both given to the club which has always been in their free time. They will both be missed very much.

Allan Reid has taken over as the new President and Sue Forbes has taken over as the new Secretary, We have a new junior member Daisy Forbes. Daisy is in post to take any suggestions, complaints anything from the divers to the committee. Grant Forrest is now in post to take some of the strain of the website from Malcolm.
